Friday and Saturday, September 17 and 18 - Nutcracker Ballet Auditions
The Danbury Music Centre' Nutcracker Ballet 2010 Auditions for experienced and inexperienced dancers, ages 7 – adult, will take place on Friday and Saturday, September 17 and 18 at Danbury High School. The Danbury Music Centre's staged production of the Nutcracker Ballet began in 1967. Artistic directors, Arthur Fredric and Lisa Denton, will audition potential cast members at Danbury High School on Friday and Saturday afternoons. Saturday, September 25, 2010, 8pm
Men Without Instruments with Carlos Sousa, will present a benefit recital in the Marian Anderson Recital Hall (second floor of the Danbury Music Centre) on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 8:00pm. This group specializes in singing doo-wop music and has become extremely popular. Early arrival is suggested. This recital will benefit the programs of the Danbury Music Centre. Cost is $10.00. Advance ticket purchase is recommended.
Sunday, October 17, 2010, all day events, 3pm concert - Ives’ Day
This annual event will take place at various locations and times throughout the day. Hosts are Nancy Sudik and Larry Deming with guest organist, Stephen Roberts. The day includes hiking up Pine Mountain to one of Ives’ favorite locations to compose, a visit to Ives’ birth home and to the cemetery where he is buried. The day will culminate with a concert at St. Peter Church with Stephen Roberts, organist, performing Ives’ Variations on America. Please call or email the Danbury Music Centre for more information. Saturday, November 6 at 3pm – finalists’ concert
The Danbury Music Centre's ninth Danbury Symphony Orchestra Student Concerto Competition takes place on at the Danbury Music Centre's second floor, Marian Anderson Recital Hall. The prize will be a solo performance with the Danbury Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the Young Peoples Concert. Student musicians, no older than senior year in high school in September 2010, and living in the greater Danbury area, are eligible to audition. The Danbury Symphony Orchestra will perform its first concert of the season on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Ives Concert Hall at 8pm. Ariel Rudiakov, Music Director and Conductor, will lead the orchestra in Brahms’ Symphony No. 1, Dvorak’s Romance in F minor for Violin and Orchestra, and Eric Coates’ The Three Elizabeths.

Danbury Music Centre presents the Danbury Concert Chorus with guest conductor, Christine Howlett leading the Danbury Concert Chorus in a program including Bach’s Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring, Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus, Holst’s Let all Mortal Flesh Keep Silent, Alice Parker’s Personent Hodie from Gaudete, and Brahms’ Zigeunerlieder (Gypsy Songs) Op.103.

The Danbury Music Centre's Nutcracker Ballet 2010 will be performed on Friday, December 10 at 7:30pm; Saturday, December 11 at 6pm; and Sunday, December 12 at 3pm at the Danbury High School. The fully staged, professionally costumed, designed production includes more than 200 dancers from the greater Danbury community and the Danbury Symphony Orchestra. The Danbury Concert Chorus and the Danbury Baroque Chamber Orchestra present Messiah, an oratorio written in 1742 by Georg Frederick Handel
The Danbury Music Centre's annual presentation of the Messiah will be under the direction of guest conductor, Tina Heidrich.
