National Executive Service Corps of Southwest Connecticut

NESC of Southwest Connecticut has served Fairfield County for more than 22 years, successfully completing over 200 consultancies in the fields of cultural and performing arts, public and private education, religion, social services, healthcare and government. NESC draws upon a base of some 100 local consultants. The people in this talent pool have developed distinguished careers and they now desire to "give back" by using their skills and expertise for the benefit of their community. Organizations that work with NESC tap the experience and know-how of fellow community members who are familiar with the issues facing local nonprofits.

Top quality management consultancies are sharply defined and tailored to the specific needs of the client organization while being sensitive to their particular situations. The specialties of NESC include strategic and business planning, board development, budgeting, facilities planning, fundraising, and more. Fees are based on client budget and project scope. As NESC receives the majority of its funding from corporations, foundations and individuals, clients are asked to pay only a modest fee to ensure a shared stake in the consulting process.

Pro Bono Partnership

The Pro Bono Partnership provides business legal advice to nonprofit organizations in Fairfield County, CT, Westchester County, NY and New Jersey, and also offers an annual series of workshops on a wide range of legal issues of importance to nonprofit managers and directors. Most of the Partnership's services are provided without charge.

The Partnership assists nonprofit organizations primarily serving the poor or otherwise disadvantaged, as well as other organizations, such as civic, arts, environmental or conservation groups working to improve the quality of life in local communities. Its clients are organizations that lack the resources to hire an attorney.

The staff attorneys of the Partnership screen nonprofits applying for legal assistance and match accepted clients with volunteer attorneys, from leading corporations and law firms, who have the requisite legal expertise. Staff attorneys are also available to nonprofit organizations, clients or not, on an ongoing basis to provide brief advice by phone on questions that can be immediately addressed. The website of the Pro Bono Partnership contains articles on legal issues, model documents and answers to frequently asked questions, all available at no charge. The Partnership is almost entirely supported by annual grants from corporations, foundations, law firms and generous individuals. To request legal assistance, subscribe to the free e-newsletter or check on upcoming workshops, visit the Pro Bono Partnership website at, www.probonopartnership.org
