Danbury Public Schools is hosting a “Community Conversation” as a vehicle for community citizens to have input in promoting parent involvement on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Rogers Park Middle School, Memorial Drive, in Danbury.

The community conversation serves as a bridge between the Danbury Public School System and the community as an outlet to discuss problems that the community is facing with the schools and working collectively to come up with solutions. The board of education has adopted a five year plan in which this conversation will target “parent involvement.” This will generate ways to improve parent involvement, assist in educating the public on the goals of the Danbury school system, and develop ways to work together more effectively on behalf of children and families.  Our Community Conversation will explore and listen to participants input about ways to increase and enrich parent involvement.

The school district’s goal is to educate the community on what is being done and to gain involvement and input as a vehicle to move forward on where the district is heading.

Dr. Sal Pascarella, Superintendent of Danbury Public Schools said, “We deeply value the input of parents and feel we have to work collaboratively in educating students.”

The event will be from 8:30am-12:30pm with registration and continental breakfast between at 8:30am-9:00am. Spanish and Portuguese translators will be available.  There will be child care available provided by Danbury High School peer leadership students with activities planned for the children.  Transportation will also be available upon request.
